About the Class

This class is built for people who want to climb trees the way working arborists do: safely, professionally, and with confidence. You’ll learn how to move in the tree, trust your gear, and never climb “sketchy”.

We meet once a week. Each session is focused on safety, technique, and repetition until it feels natural.

What You’ll Learn

Essential Knots

You’ll learn the most used and most important knots in tree work, including:

  • Running Bowline
  • Blake’s Hitch / Prusik
  • Figure 8 on a Bight
  • Clove Hitch
  • Half Hitch & Timber Hitch

We don’t just name them—you’ll tie them until you can do it with your eyes closed, and understand when and why to use each one.

Gear & Body Positioning

  • Spikes & Buckstrap: How to attach, adjust, and move safely.
  • Body Positioning: How to balance, lean, and rest in the tree.
  • Two-Point Technique: Always tied in twice—never hanging by one point.
  • Climbing Line / “Life Line”: Why it’s your most important piece of gear.

You’ll learn how to feel safe in the tree, not just “hope” you’re safe.

Reserve Your Spot

A $40 deposit reserves your spot and goes toward your $150 class. After you submit, you’ll get a confirmation email with next steps.

You’ll be charged $40 to reserve. The remaining $110 is due at class.

Recommended Tree Gear

These are gear items I actually use or recommend. When you click and buy, you’re ordering directly from Amazon. Later, I’ll automate ordering through my own account, but for now you’ll just buy normally.

Videos & Lesson Guides

As the class grows, this section will hold your knot-tying videos, gear walkthroughs, and written guides. You’ll manage these from your admin dashboard and keep everything versioned in GitHub.

No public lesson videos yet. Check back soon.
